Heartland’s bonfire night is a staple in the local community, a free to attend extravaganza featuring live music, fair ground rides, a bonfire big enough to level a small town and arguably the best fireworks display in Cornwall. With over 14,000 people in attendance it really is the place to be!

2022 was the first year we partnered with the event providing sound, lighting, video, crew and an 8m x 6m trailer stage with the help of our friends at Trailer Swift. On audio we had two systems, the main FOH PA, a ground stacked point source system, catering to the audience area directly in front of the stage. For the second system we deployed 2x delay towers of 8 speaker hangs of our compact line array, Vela, on 2 of our 7m PA towers to ensure that all 14,000 people could feel part of the event. Providing a much needed improvement on intelligibility compared to years past.
On control we had Allen and Heath’s SQ-6 providing more than enough IO and processing power, while satisfying the event’s budget restrictions.

To compliment the 8m x 6m trailer stage we supplied a lighting package to enable a dynamic lighting show for the bands and acts playing throughout the event. To satisfy both the required levels of visual production, whilst remaining budget friendly we utilised the Infinity iw-720 moving wash light. This compact wash light, equipped with pixel mappable face, and motorised zoom was the perfect fixture to create colour washes and eye candy effects throughout the event, whilst remaining considerate to the trailer load safe working load limit. The Showtec Phantom 130 spot unit was used alongside the infinity wash to create an array of beam and gobo breakup effects. A 130 watt LED source, equipped with multiple prisms, and a great selection of gobos, the Phantom 130 brought depth to the lighting show and enabled the creation of immersive lighting states which saw the stage and crowd collide. An array of IP rated LEDJ par cans were also used utilised to produce crowd blinder effects, and to produce an even colour controllable stage wash.

To achieve varying heights of lighting fixture, and therefore a more visually intriguing show, we utilised an additional rear sub hung truss’s, on chain blocks. This also aided us in satisfying the events minimal load in time.

The nights celebrations were hosted by Pirate FM with the musical talents of Not The Beatles and The Good Old Fashioned Lover Boys entertaining the crowd with their uncanny tribute to the Beatles and Queen respectively!
Despite major delays in the build due to weather, our team still delivered the event on time and to the high standards punters expect of modern events. Proving once again that come rain or shine TruCru is the type of company you want in your corner.
