In 2021 the National Maritime Museum Cornwall approached our team, they tasked us with designing and implementing a brand new audio-visual system in their lecture theatre. They wanted a system which would not only support the space and their in-house events, but something that would be a valuable asset to clients who hire the space in future.
Their brief to us stated that the system had to be powerful yet easy to use, this is why we opted for the Kramer Control platform. We were able to deploy a wide variety of high end brands such as Panasonic, Allen and Heath, Visual productions and Sennheiser: all controlled from simple to use touch screen panels. The main purpose of their new system is to provide flexibility for the wide variety of events they host, whether it’s a hybrid event on zoom, a livestreamed teaching series or a more traditional in person event.
We installed Martin Audio CDD speakers to ensure even coverage throughout the seating and that every listener, no matter where they are sat, is experiencing the same high quality of sound. For audio control we selected the extremely powerful, brand new, Allen and Heath AHM-64, this matrix mixer paired with the dante option card allowed us to implement a dante network for easy input and output routing.
Panasonic was the obvious choice for video, as a leader in their field we are more than happy to install their products. We have 2x Panasonic AW-HE38 PTZs positioned around the room and an 8000 lumen laser projector, providing bright colour accurate image quality while being extremely energy efficient.
For Lighting we installed DMX controllable stage lighting suitable for high quality live streaming. We also deployed DMX controllable LED tape for house lighting, this allows the house lights to be operated by a multi-zone wall panel and by the AV technician operating the system for the various events.
“It was a pleasure to be involved in creating a system like this in such an iconic tourist attraction” – Toby Bodman, Project Manager
